The second poorest nation in the world, according to some indexes, is home to a fledgling 1,000 member Mennonite Church which is working to keep its young adults active and faithful when they leave their home villages to attend university in the capital city of Ouagadougou. Your gift helps sustain a special ministry and congregation dedicated to nurturing young Mennonite adults and welcoming others to this faith community.
Congregations are spread across towns, villages and cities such as Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso.
The ministry focus is on radio ministry, pastoral training, peace ministry, women’s projects, linguistics and Bible translation via partner Burkina Bible Society.
Lillian Nicolson works on bible translation and church planting. Norm Nicolson teaches trade to Mennonite youth and provides technical expertise in radio ministry, the most popular and accessible for villagers.
Nancy Frey and Bruce Yoder work in leadership development with the Evangelical Mennonite Church of Burkina Faso (EEMBF) and support a small congregation of primarily Mennonite university students Ouagadougou.
