Growing food through aquaponics

Kid friendly project!

Did you know that fish poop makes an excellent natural fertilizer for fruits and vegetables – without the need for soil? And that the growing plants clean the water for the fish?

This closed system of raising food is called aquaponics. It’s environmentally friendly, can be done on a small scale, and provides a healthy diet of fish and green produce.

Mennonite Church Canada is helping young Mennonite churches in the Global South start small aquaponics operations and receive training in home and community based enterprises so that they can build capacity for their living and ministry needs.
